Remote on-off control is standard in the 600W and 1200W/1500W models using either an external power source (voltage applied to RC terminals) or by mechanical or logical closure of a contact (without external power source). The 100W-1UR and 150W-1UR models offer remote on-off as an optional feature; contact factory for details.

HSF 600W models are offered in 12V, 15V, 24V, 28V and 48V models. HSF 600W models can also be purchased with an optional front panel meter which displays either voltage or current using a front panel mode switch.

The front panel of each plug-in HSF module contains an on-off switch, a "V d-c on" on light; and for the 350W models, a “V a-c on” light. On the 1200W/1500W models the V d-c on light doubles as a configurable Alarm indicator which lights red if the output is lost. When HSF modules are paralleled, the module with the highest voltage setting automatically becomes the "master" As long as they are in the same voltage range, the other units are slaves, tracking the voltage setting of the master and equally sharing the load current. The front panel voltage adjustment trimmer provides adjustment of the output voltage. A pair of test points provide access at the front panel to measure the voltage. The 350W units also incorporate a Reset button to restore the output if the unit shuts down after sensing an over- or undervoltage condition, thermal overload, or fan malfunction.

HSF 50W, 100W, 150W and 350W models plug into a Kepco series RA 19-(X)B rack adapter. The RA 19-3B accepts three 350W plug-in modules. The RA 19-4B accepts two 350W and two 150W, 100W or 50W modules. The RA 19-5B accepts one 350W and four 150W, 100W or 50W modules. The RA 19-6B will accommodate six 150W plug-in modules. The RA 19-8B will accommodate eight 50W or 100W plug-in modules. The RA 19-7B will accommodate three 150W and four 50W or 100W plug-in modules. It will also accommodate four 150W and two 50W or 100W plug-in modules.

The Kepco HSF 600W and 1200W/1500W models plug into a standard 3U X 19" housing, model RA 19-4C, to facilitate hot swapping in a fault-tolerant redundant power system. The rack housing has space for four modules, allowing users to configure various redundant systems: for example, the 1500W models can be configured as two N+1 redundant systems of 1500W each, a single N+1 system of up to 4500W, or a single parallel combination producing up to 6000 watts of d-c. Built-in current balancing and OR-ing diodes allow all these configurations.

For all models input/output connections are through a 24 pin connector that plugs in to the rack adapter. All external connections are made through the rack adapter. Surface mount technology permits efficient component layout for minimum mounting space. The 3.3V and 5V 350W units provide two 24-pin connectors for current distribution.

HSF 350W, 600W and 1200W/1500W models include PFC (power-factor correction). PFC is also included at no extra cost in the 3U 50W, 100W, and 150W -PFC models and in the 1U 50W and 100W -1UR models, consult Kepco. HSF are CE Marked per the Low Voltage Directive (LVD), EN60950.
